Led by Visit Wiltshire and Visit England, the upcoming tourist trail from London to Bristol and Bath in the West has been named Great West Way. Along this exciting new route sightseers can explore some of the country’s most beautiful countryside and attractions, including StoneHenge.
The trail can be explored by train, car or coach, by boat, on foot or by bike. There’s also excellent connections to Bristol and Heathrow airports, and Channel ports.
Below we explore Great West Way in a nutshell. From Windsor, Legoland and Ascot in West London, through the streamtracks of Swindon and the StoneHenge and Avebury World Heritage Site, to Bath and Bristol’s attractions like the Roman Baths and Prior Park Landscape Gardens.
Great West Way connects England’s icons and reveals everyday England. It’s time to get those walking boots on!

London & Kew Gardens

Great West Way starts in West London where you can visit sights like Westminster and the beautiful Kew Gardens before hopping into a train, car or your walking boots for the first leg of the journey.
Windsor Castle

Your first stop on Great West Way might be one of the country’s most popular destinations: Windsor Castle. An English monument of royal and architectural history, Windsor Castle is a must-visit.
Legoland & Ascot

Whether it’s a family day out at Legoland or a memorable trip to the races at Royal Ascot both of these destinations are staple attractions. Stop off here on Great West Way for some pure fun!
Chiltern Hills

Great West Way continues through Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a gorgeous setting of South Eastern countryside to explore.
North Wessex Downs

Next you can explore the North Wessex Downs, another area that defines the gorgeous English countryside. It is one of the most beautiful places in Oxfordshire.
Kennet & Avon Canal

The next leg on the Great West Way is the Kennet and Avon Canal, an 87-mile river route that stretches through many counties including our own city of Bath.
Swindon by Steam

At the Wiltshire station of Bristol you can travel by steam engine and explore the English countryside. What a wonderful experience!
StoneHenge & Avebury

One of the natural wonders of the world, step into the story of England with a visit to Stonehenge, just an hour’s drive away near the Cathedral city of Salisbury.
Bowood

Devizes

Visit Devizes on the Great West Way where you can find the market and local English vineyard a’Beckett’s. You can also find a market as well.
